Who is an “ideal” PMU candidate?

As with any procedure addressing skin, those with healthy skin are good candidates. Since the procedure requires traumatizing the skin, if the skin is unhealthy, the outcome will be unpredictable and most likely not ideal. We get clients that are teens to women in their 80’s of all ethnic background and everything in between. If your skin is in good condition, you should be good to go.

Who is NOT and ``ideal`` candidate

Client who are not good candidates are those with any bleeding disorders (i.e. hemophilia A,B), anyone with active inflammatory conditions (temporary and chronc) on or near the eyebrow area (i.e. eczema, shingles, rashes), those with potential allergies to ink, alcohol (in the pigment), numbing agents (i.e. lidocaine), glaucoma, recently on prescriptions for acne (i.e. Accutuane, Salicylic Acid), anti-aging remedies (i.e. Retinols, Glycolic Acid, AHA’s, Vitamin C), those on blood-thinners/supplements (i.e. Fish Oils, baby aspirin, Ibuprofen, Niacin, Vitamin E) and those with excessively oily skin that is not currently being managed professionally. No tanned skin. Tanned skin will heal cool (gray) and will jeapordize the skin’s normal healing process.

WATERCOLOR LIPS: If you have ever had a cold sore, you must acquire an antiviral and show us proof of Rx before proceeding with your appointment. If you choose not to, you are proceeding at your risk of an outbreak after the appointment, as this procedure may prompt an outbreak response.

Those requiring a Doctor’s written consent: clients prone to keloids or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, patients undergoing chemotherapy or under multiple medications.

Basically anything that will compromise the normal, healthy state of the skin’s condition can potentially compromise the procedure and outcome. It’s essential to strictly adhere to the pre-procedure precautions and post-procedure aftercare instructions for an optimal outcome.

Am I a suitable candidate for semi-permanent brows?

As long as you meet the minimum age requirements and are relatively healthy, almost anyone can. I have worked with clients of all ages and ethnicities and helped them achieve their aesthetic goals.

Who is NOT an ideal candidate

• You are under 18

• You are pregnant or breastfeeding (Please consult your doctor)

• You have been on Accutane within 1 year

• You have irritation of the skin of any kind such as blemishes, pimples, rash, psoriosis, eczema, rosacea, sunburn or irritation in/around the area of procedure. It is possible that we WILL NOT be able to do the procedure until the blemish or area of concern is completely healed or the mole is removed and healed. If you show up to the appointment and there is an area of concern, you will be rescheduled to the next available appointment (typically months out) and forfeit your deposit for the appointment time lost. A new deposit will be required to reschedule. NO EXCEPTIONS

• You are on Retin-A or Retinols. Be off 30 days before appointment and avoid 30 days after procedure.

• Diabetic (consult your doctor)

• Have HIV or Hepatitis or any other viral infections and/or diseases

• Undergoing Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)

• Epilepsy

• A Pacemaker or major heart problems

• Had an Organ transplant

• Weepy eyes, eye infection, severe allergies

• Sick (cold, flu, etc. Will affect the healing process, please reschedule)

• You generally don’t heal well and develop infections easily

• You ARE NOT a good candidate if you have LARGE pores or Oily/Severely Oily Skin, your results WILL appear softer/solid or powdered looking.

• You ARE NOT a good candidate if you have thin, sensitive skin AND Rosacea. This will cause bleeding and poor pigment retention.

I'm pregnant/nursing, can I still get the procedure done?

Unfortunately, you must wait until you pass this phase to ensure safety and the best results as your hormones and skin will be out of balance and quite sensitive during this time. You may consult your Dr. and bring in a note if he/she approves.

Remember - Permanent Makeup is an Art, NOT a science.

Clients results will vary and outcomes are unpredictable. Using a pencil or powder may still be needed. We have no control over the body’s healing process. The outcome may vary every appointment, for the same individual. A small percentage of the population may have little to no retention or hyper retention due to the nature of your skin. Please understand this is a possibility and we will not know until the procedure is done and healed. We also cannot control variables outside the realm of our control. Long-term PMU may result in necessary removal, color alteration, and blurring of the pigment. All results vary per individual.

Please note that tattoo inks, dyes and pigments have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration and that the health consequences of using these products are unknown.
